Mom Success – Jessica Galbraith
Over a year ago I met Jessica Galbraith through an online childbirth education community I had. Like many expecting women she was nervous about how her labor and birth experience would be. I coached her on relaxing and using a program called “Calm Birth” for labor. Jessica chose to have a home birth, with a midwife, a Doula, her husband, and a tub of water that she could labor in. She gave birth to a beautiful, adorable little girl named Olivia.
Planing and giving birth is such an enormous event that it seems everything else happening in life is mute or put on “hold”. Moms become so preoccupied with it they begin to forget themselves in the excitement and are not aware of it. This continues as a new mom.
As Jessica says:
“I don’t honestly make much time for myself, if or when I do it is a couple minutes with one of my favorite magazines! I figure that these first years with Olivia are so precious & will go so fast that I don’t dream of missing them as she will be big one day & I will have all the time in the world to look at my magazines again & again.”
Jessica is a talented graphic artist. A huge part of who she is as a woman is to create. So I love that she keeps herself inspired through small increments of time looking at her favorite magazines to keep her creative “juices” going!
Even tho her Graphic Art Business has slowed, there are new projects she is currently working on. Jessica shares:
“My Graphic Design business has quieted a little since Liv has come along. I recently finished updating some logo/branding material for a client, I also recently finished laying out a book that went to print about a boy with down syndrome. I am also going to start working with a vineyard in the area, designing there wine labels, something I have been wanting to do for quite a while now.
What inspires Jessica?
“Life inspires me, the desire to enjoy, live, and love freely with true happiness & a real peace from within. There are so many miraculous things happening all around us that are incredibly important to those it is happening too, I love watching that & trying to understand it.”
Jessica reminds me to stay true to your heart and not forget those unique interests and passions that make you who you are. This is mom success to me. It is the foundation for everything else to be built on. And, one great “side effect” of this is you’ll be an exceptional role model for your children – how sweet is that.
If you have a passion, a dream, let it bubble up and show itself in spite of being a mom. Being a mother is only one part of you. There is so much more of you the world needs to see.
Here’s Jessica’s tip from mom to mom:
“My personal tip would be to take everything is stride, watch & think before you react & try not to let the details take away from the lovely child in front of you, they know & live very simply, they are not rushed in their day nor aware of much except if their security is or is not at hand. Do all you can to let them savor this time as we all know it will change quickly & do all you can to not let it pass you by before you know it.”
Now, go set the world on “fire” with your gifts. 🙂 Thank you Jessica, you are an inspiration! As soon as her online shop opens I’ll let you know. Also, if you’re interested in Jessica’s work and need a graphic designer, contact me.
