What a Juicy Kiss Can Do For Labor
For most women, making love with their significant other usually leads to becoming pregnant with child. During those intimate moments hormones such as Oxytocin, levels are high and assist in causing orgasm. In fact, Oxytocin’s nick name the “love hormone” says it all!
Oxytocin is THE hormone that causes the uterus to contract during labor, it promotes bonding and connection with baby after birth, and is in high levels during breastfeeding.
So, what do you think a juicy kiss would do during labor? Ah, besides it feeling oh so good and sensual, it raises Oxytocin and Endorphins (your body’s pain killers). Yes!
It’s a funny thing to talk about this is my childbirth classes because sex, labor, breastfeeding, bonding, it’s all related! Couples act like they never touched each other before when I have them doing labor exercises – then I have to bring up sex, “I know how this all started!” I say to them. Then the class laughs!
We forget sex and birth are PHYSICAL experiences that are controlled by emotion and hormones. The more you remember this the more control you can have over your labor experience. Think about it.
If you ignore what your body and emotions can do, your labor will be dependent on medical practices to birth. Not that this is so bad – depends on the situation. But wouldn’t you rather tap into your own awesome innate abilities to birth your baby BEFORE being poked and prodded by someone else especially when a loving juicy kiss with your partner (the same kinda kiss you experienced with them on your first date… hm.. remember?) could get labor going? It also keeps you and your partner connected as a couple during this amazing time in your life.
Bring on the juicy kissing! Not once, not twice, but throughout labor!
