Let’s Get This Straight About Labor Management

Yes! I Can!This is very interesting.

Right now, I am doing a survey of those who choose to participate, of moms-to-be. I’m asking questions about what they want to know in preparing for the birth of their baby.

100% want to know about “labor management”

0% want to know how to manage contractions ……………….

Let’s get this straight about labor management …

Labor management IS managing contractions ….

Labor discomfort is generated by labor contractions.

So, learning how to manage a contraction, one at a time is indeed, managing your labor.

So let’s look at ONE contraction.

One Wonderful Contraction

Every contraction BEHAVES the same.

The uterus is a muscle and contracts like all muscles in your body do. The difference here is a uterine contraction builds in intensity and strength in a matter of seconds, peaks, releases, and relaxes into a resting state.

Uterine contractions have a mind of their own in that they work independently from the rest of your body.

Here’s what you can plan for and count on:

  • one contraction can be as short as 20 seconds or as long as 90+ seconds
  • the contraction will GRADUALLY gain strength as it peaks
  • once it peaks ( the muscle is really tense) the contraction gradually releases
  • a resting state ALWAYS follows

Learn how to manage one contraction at a time because this is “labor management”.

Birth bold,
